Hi Candle Lovers, welcome to my first blog.
I wanted to share my recent experience with SheCom. If you aren't familiar SheCom is a trusted community for women in e-commerce. They ARE relatable, real, no BS and full of compassion for this journey we are all on. They are a group of driven and passionate boss
women who believe in the power of collaboration and the impact it can have on our businesses.
Their Core Values are INSPIRE, CELEBRATE & EDUCATE!
Every year they hold awards, which is a fantastic way to grow your business and get the recognition deserved. It is also a great event to rub shoulders with other entrepreneurs and experts in the business!
Ok, so how does BB Candle Co. fit into this? back in June 2023 I submitted my application in their 'Candle' category for our Persian Lime & Lemongrass Soy candle - We instantly became a nominee.
From there, the team at SheCom went through all applications for each category and in July we were announced as a FINALIST!
To say overwhelmed would be an understatement. I have worked incredibly hard on my fragrances to ensure I have the best ratio possible.
On Wednesday, 6 September 2023 I flew to the Gold Coast from Newcastle to attend my first SheCom Awards night and WOW, they know how to put on a great event!
Not only is this event to find out the winners, but Lisa, the Founder of SheCom went through the judging process and then shared a video of there our products end up after judging. They are donated to a DV charity and are shared amongst women in need. This is incredible.
The time came to find out who the winner was of the 'Candle' category, and unfortunately I didn't win but it was still a great night.
I also met the lady behind the lense of my recent product pics, Peita from Bloom creative and it was a great time getting to know her and guess what - SHE WON!! that's when you know your products are in the right hands for product photography.
All in all, while we didn't win, it was an amazing experience to meet some amazing ladies in business and some of those being ladies I have followed on socials since starting my business.
While it was a quick trip, I am so happy I got out of my comfort zone and went to something where I didn't know what to expect and I am so glad I went.
Hoping to attend next year as well and maybe add in their 2 day conference as well :)
